How to Play Blackjack

Blackjack or 21 as some people call this game is definitely the most popular casino table game. The main purpose of this particular game is to beat the dealer, but like all casino games the odds are with the house. The game is played with anywhere from one to eight decks of cards.

In some cases the dealer holds a deck but usually has no more than two decks of cards. With up to eight shoe decks used to handle the game. Some casinos are now seeing new technology that is constantly shuffling cards and holding cards and handling them.

Types of Card Games Hearts

While blackjack may not seem like it’s a very complicated game it is actually tricky. Blackjack game is all about getting the right hand to beat the dealer. If the dealer sells your cards by hand then your cards are dealt to you face down. If the cards are dealt from the shoe or tray, then the cards are dealt to you face up and you may not deal your cards. However the hands being dealt the game are basically the same, beating the dealer.

Like I said the object of the game is to beat the dealer and the way you do that is either by holding a hand closer to 21 than the dealer or drawing blackjack which is an ace and either a king, queen, jack or 10 of any suit. If you go over 21 then you have damaged your hand and the same is true of the dealer, but the dealer must stop hitting at 17 or when their hit goes away. However you are not restricted from playing until you hit or go over 17 with the hits you may hit as often as you choose until you go bust, but you don’t want to go broke.

Card suits have no effect on blackjack play.

The value of the card is also not complicated, as all cards from 2 to 10 are counted based on their face value. The face, queen, and king card jacks are worth 10, while the aces are worth 11 and 1. The aces will also determine if you have a soft hand. For example the aces and 2 are soft 13 or 3, and you will decide whether to hit or stand.
